I am a Law student at Kingston University, an active member within my society, hoping to bridge the gaps between Muslims and Non-Muslims through common grounds, and promoting love and tolerance among Muslims for the betterment and cohesiveness of society. I believe the Muslim community is largely unrepresented, the adherents of which consist of ethnic minorities. Their needs are not accommodated for, and their voices misrepresented. Through this Project, I hope the ethnic minorities within our society can be looked after adequately, and the needs of Muslim women catered for. Perhaps, both Muslim and Non-Muslim women can work together while battling with cancer.

My background is Biochemistry with Management, and I remember yawning through the Cancer module in Biochemistry, so why did I get involved with Muslim Cancer Support? Imagine having a sickness that will spread, imagine having your life completely changed by something you have no control over, of being in pain and not being able to do much about it. Women are strong and we are stronger together, this support is for our sisters, our mothers, our grandmothers and our aunts to get through Cancer together whilst seeking the help of Allah SWT. We can remember this Hadith and fulfill our obligations; Allah will say on the Day of Judgment: “O son of Adam I was sick and you did not visit Me. He will say: O Lord how can I visit You. You are the Lord of the worlds? He says: Did you not know that My servant so and so was sick yet you did not visit him? Did you not know that if you had visited him you would have found Me with him?” (Muslim).

I am a sociology and Criminology student at Westminster University, I believe that productive societies are formed by productive members, and firstly as a Muslim I have a great responsibility towards my dear sisters in their time of need, as well as a responsibility towards Mankind to help them through kindness, a word of righteousness and a act of love. These are principles which Islam promotes, and Islam acts as my main drive to help others and to be of benefit to my community.

I am currently working as a teacher and throughout my life I have seen many women battle through cancer. I believe a project like this is greatly needed as there is gap in the community to provide Muslim women with the much needed emotional support, through counseling and acts of kindness. With the permission of Allah this project will make the individual have more hope and a positive attitude to deal with their treatment, And i pray that Muslim Cancer Support will always be a means for the cancer suffers to turn to when in need of emotional and spiritual support thorough their stay in the hospital.

I am currently a Psychology student at Brunel University. I believe that cancer truly is a disease which can affect the lives of many physically, mentally and spiritually. The way to help treat this ’social cancer’ is through awareness, education and simply the loving help of those who care. Most people know atleast one person who has suffered from cancer and know the consequences that can follow, I feel through Muslim Cancer Support I will be able to help my Sisters in Islam during their suffering insha’Allah.

I’m a Law graduate, currently waiting to complete my LPC. The Muslim-to-Muslim relationship is like a Mother to her child. A project like this would unite women of different background, and help them fight cancer together, support each other spiritually and be of assistance to other within reasonable bounds. May Allah bring success to this project – a much needed one in our community, I hope to support and be there for the launch of this project.
